evaluation.

To start off the project we was made to research what social action is. Social action is taking things on your own hand to change things in your local community. We the was given the task to look at a project called #Iwill the project was all about social action all over Britain and it would share peoples stories and people success. For example I researched on someone called Matthew Otubu who is involved in the #iwill campgain.in my research I feel I could have done more than I did but I felt it was really hard to find primary research due to most of the things was on the internet.in my research I went on to look at local social action project I could have possibly taken part in later in the future, I looked at things like full effect which was a film project for people from st anns took part in the film and t was something to help the teenagers of st anns stay away from the streets. i then did a PowerPoint presentation which I personally felt I didn't quite well but to start off with I think I was very nervous to start off with but as the presentation I became confident. From the feed back I got it was very similar I was told that I was straight forward and covered all the important and key areas of the project but I then also was told I came across a bit nervous. I think if I was to do the presentation again I would make sure i'm well informed on what i'm abut to talk about because I felt I first I wasn't sure on what I was doing to say was going to be correct so I feel my main problem was preparation.

We then went to talk about how briefs are done we covered up to seven different briefs. Before we met the client from the sumac centre we had to do some background research on what the sumac centre is all about. I found out the sumac centre is a centre for boys and girls where they go after school to take part in many activities like drawing and also get help with home work I also learned to sumac centre was a none profit campaign and is run by funding.

After we gathered research Dom from the sumac centre came to pitch his brief and pretty much told us what the sumac centre is about and what he would want us to do for him. as a class we was set to do a task of fund raising so we decided to come up with a promotional video but due to a lot of people availabilities the work load had to be slit up. to start of with I was meant to be in the group of people that was meant to go to the sumac centre but I just wasn't available on the days we was meant to be there. so I was set on a task to do another fund raising project of my own, I joined to group of Rebecca, Harry and Ronan where we decided as a group we would do a football kick up fund raiser together but when it came to agreeing a date as a group we was find it difficult to find time to do it because we had other commitments so I decided to do a fund raiser of my own.

For my fund raiser I decided to do a game of slaps I chose to do this because I knew people would enjoy it and it was something unique and fun so I made a poster and the entry for the game was 50p.I managed to raise £3.50 in all honesty I personally feel that wasn't good enough because I personally felt I could have done better.

if I was to do this unit again I think the first thing I would do is build a timetable to get things done because I was behind a lot of the time, I also think I would make sure I would get a better understanding on something because I think I didn't understand it at first but as soon as I got a better understanding I started to find things easier. the other thing I could have also done better is making sure I made more time but I know I was something that was out of my power but I think I could have done more to make it there for example because I had to babysit but could have made the effort to go to the sumac centre with my little brother.I also feel things could have gone better if everyone got together a made roles earlier because it slowed down the process of the whole project. The things that I did well in this project was really improvising because as the group decide to do things separate it was hard to find a new thing to do but then I figured out a way to fund raise, I decided to a fund raiser on a little game called slaps. which I felt worked well and really spread a message across because I was getting a lot of question on why I was doing the slaps game to raise funds.

all together I think I did a great job to get the message of the sumac centre across even though I didn't raise I much as I would have liked I feel I did a great job. in this projected I learned to a lot about blogs and how they should be laid out and I also learned about briefs and how they work and hopefully I can take this information I collected and add in to my day to day life one day.

Tendered briefs

-Explain in 1 sentence what a tendered brief is?
A tendered brief is when a company would advertise themselves for clients.
- How will the client find a production company to work for them?
It would usually be advertised for example like a job ad or the company would get in contact with the client through their management team. for example if a music artist was slowly growing and wasn't signed record companies will get in contact with them or their manager.
- How does a production company convince the client that they are the best team for the job?
This really depends on how big the company is most of the time because its easier to attract clients but if it wasn't a big company it would have to involve a lot of money to bring them in or other benefits they can get from joining the company. for example in football if a player is being signed by a team that's not as big they would have to use other tactics like showing them how good the city is and how it can benefit their career if they join them.
-How will the final product be decided for a tendered brief?
The final product is decided by the company in a proposal on how much they are willing to spend so they would discuss cost and the pros and cons that the product would come with. for example in football they would discuss how much they are willing to pay for a player and hoping the player will help them reach their goals.
- What are the pros and cons?
the cons of this is that the company could possibly loose out because they have client might not be able to fulfil the companies desires. The pros is that both the company and client can come to an agreement on cost and various other things.
-Are there any similarities between other types of briefs?
the tendered brief is really similar to the negotiation brief because its two parties and they are discussing on how they can benefit each other.

sumac centre research

Research

Secondary

The sumac centre is an independent community social centre based in Nottingham. The sumac centre goal is to help children from the ages of 7 to 16 with various things such as homework and general things to keep them from trouble. The sumac centre has work shops where children can express and enjoy themselves.

The sumac youth centre is located in forest fields and the sumac centre is open from 5 pm till 8 pm. The Sumac also provide meeting/socialising space for a groups working to promote social justice, environmental awareness, peace and animal rights. The sumac centre also support community resistance projects of all forms.

The Sumac centre works with the NG7 women together on their conversation skills because English isn't their native language. On top of this the Sumac centre does various events mostly music events, film showings and jumble sells to raise money and awareness. The sumac centre isn't run by anyone its ran by the volunteers who have a say on what happens, open organising meetings are held on the first Monday of every month.

The key goal for the sumac centre is to provide and fun and enjoyable environment. to find out more you can visit the sumac centre website http://sumac.org.uk/ and the centre itself at 245 Gladstone Street, Forest Fields, Nottingham NG7 6HX  where you can find out how to get involved and become a volunteer.

Primary

Libby and Patrick

For Libby and Patrick I was unfortunately ill with a bug so I couldn't attend so I have information that happened.

Dom

Dom came in college to discuss what the sumac centre is all about and he also talked about how we as individuals and groups. Dom also went on to talk on how people can donate. His goal was to get us to create a promotional video for the sumac centre because it has no funds and our job as a group is to get people to donate because soon if they don't get finds they might have to shut it down.

Youth centre video

Preproduction paper work.

Proposal

In this unit I plan to create a promotional video for the sumac centre to help raise funds to help keep the youth centre running. To do this I will have to get involved as a volunteer by going their hands on and while doing this I will try to capture clips where I can add the promotional video. My end goal is to show why people they should donate and I can do this by many different platforms like YouTube, Facebook and twitter I hope by doing this I can help share and promote it to the world through social media. I plan to film on Tuesday and Thursdays because this is the day the boys are in I feel it would be easier for me to get an interview with the boys because I could relate more and come across more friendly.

Brainstorm

·         Plan on getting the boys to play a game of football and while doing this I would try to capture the happy moments because I want to show the children are happy but then the problem with showing that they happy wouldn’t look good as a promo video because the viewer’s possibly would be more likely to donate if it showed that they was sad that they don’t have certain things at the centre.

·         Also plan on taking a clip of the children studying because it would show the good qualities about the sumac centre

This is an image of my group member George and I are brainstorming Ideas on how we can do our promotional video.

Fundraising videos range from 1 minute to 3 mins but some can even get to 10 minutes but this isn’t really advised because you can to capture the viewer in quick and get the message out because people won’t stay up to 10 mins watching a video.

Some important things to have in these fundraising videos is to get a lot of close ups in the faces and have a bit where you show statistic the reason for this is the show the emotions in peoples face and people believe in numbers more than works
social action
for my social action I was planning to go to the sumac centre but my availability was going to be a problem so I decided to do my own thing so I decided to do a little fundraising project and I decided to so a fun one. I came up with the idea of doing slaps and made a poster for it where I showed people and if they wanted to participate and made it a 50p entry.

I went to the F floor where I told the students and teachers about my fund raiser for the sumac centre and I told them all what the sumac centre does and I got a couple students and teachers to get involved and raised up to £3.50 which was very good at such short notice.

Example of cooperative briefs used for the Lord of the Rings trilogy

Task- what are the pros and cons of cooperative brief?
the pros of a cooperative brief is that you can do work at a higher level than if you only had two parties and you can also get more ideas flwoing because you have more brains working. For example in the Drake and Future album MERTo booming was a huge part of it because he made all the beats but on the other hand the cons are the fact that it will mean you will have to please more than just one pary and it will cause a lot of problems.

the client will demand ideas of what they could use.
What input will the client have on the final product?
How does the final idea get agreed?
The client has a really huge part in the final product because the client will ask the productions company for ideas and the ideas will be presented to the client and the client would choose which bits the would like to change from the proposal that is presented to them.

The pros of this is the fact that you can get help on what you wanted to do and it shows you different perspective and you can also change little bits that you don't like or what you would love to add on. The cons of this could be that the client would possibly not be happy with the ideas presented so It would take things longer than expected.
for example if a school was looking to start a new sports programme but the didn't really know what their students would like they would hire a company to see what the possible sport is and they'd pitch the idea to the school and the school would have to see if they happy with it and what they would like to change about it.
